Dancin' Queen, feelin' 17 under that misletoe.

I am sitting here at school on Saturday afternoon, not too much out of the ordinary for me. I arrived at 8am to find a few kids ready to decorate, but not willing to decorate. There apparently was some super huge party out here last night, and they all went to it. They all look like they have hangovers as well.

The decorating has gone fairly well. I stayed in my room while they were decorating, but some came into talk to me. It’s nice to see my students out side of a classroom setting. They are actually nice kids. I think it allowed them to see my human side as well. We just talked about stuff, I got them laughing. It’s been nice. I don’t know if I’ll make it all the way through the dance tonight however. I’m so tired.

The party that I went to last night was so much fun! Our dinner was nice. Funeral potatoes, honey baked ham, veggies, salad and rolls. I sat next to Dave, yes he saved me a seat, and some of my other really good friends. It was a nice dinner, nice conversation and a good time. After the dinner was the program. Our skit of the “12 Pains of Christmas” was a SMASH!! We had them rolling in the isles, but then again, why wouldn’t we????

After the program was the dance portion of the evening. It was FUN!!! All 80s! I felt like I was in High School again. We were fancy free and footloose. And then **THE** song came on, Forever Young by Alphaville. Seriously, this is my favorite song to dance to of all time. It reminds me of so many things: my summer in Germany, my first boyfriend, my first kiss….

Dave made fun of me while we were dancing, but I think he was amused at my sentimentality. While we were out on the dance floor, we ended up under some mistletoe, the bishop and his wife saw us and came over and started to tease us about it. Dave was horribly embarrassed, but it was cute none the less. Too bad he didn’t take the challenge, but then again, I’m trying to play it cool with him. Later on, Crusin’ Carl did peck me on the cheek under that mistletoe. Cnacuba Carl, my secret agent comrade.

All this mistletoe has made me think of my lucky mistletoe that I used to have in college. But that’s a story for another time. As it stands, I need to go home, and clean up before this dance….and yes Holli, I am starting the Travelleeros, you are joining aren’t you??
